Daily Dose of Vintage

A simple joy at the office is my co-workers 365 vintage advertisement calendar. Some of the ads blow my mind that they actually existed in real life ("they could get away with saying that?"), and some hold up so well. It's been fun doing the reveal each day. Below are some of my favorites so far:

ad The Budweiser type. So much personality in the rotation and baseline of the letters. They were right. This is fun.

Torbay: details

One of my favorite parts about living in Newfoundland, is the lengthy history of the place. The city of St. John's was technically established in 1583! It's sort of mind-blowing.

Recently I took a trip to the town (soon to be suburb?) of Torbay, and had a chance to see some lovely hand painting on the Torbay Fire Dept. equipment (that truck is originally from the 1940s!) as well as some gorgeous stained glass doors and windows. The glass pieces are now part of the walls of the Torbay Museum, and were donated from St. Michael’s Convent which was open from 1865 to 1986. Of course photos do not quite do them justice, but I love their patterned details. They're inspiring. I think the world might be a brighter place if such detail and craftmanship was more common.

Step 1- have fun

So...welcome to my blog(!) I'm going to be sharing random bits and photos on here and see how it evolves, but of course the goal is to keep it design related.

However, we shall see how it progresses.

First up, I'm pretty excited to be working on a little side project with my husband Cody . We don't work together that often, but it's fun when our skills can complement eachother.
gametime The character above feels like my first born son.

I'll keep you posted when he officially takes his first step.
